Election News: City of Leon to hold special election to fill vacancy Tuesday, June 25, 2019

Polls will be open from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

The Decatur County Auditor’s Office has received notice from the Leon City Council requesting a special election for the vacant council seat to be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2019.  This special election will be held at the Leon Community Center from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. 

In order to appear on the ballot, candidates will need to file with the County Auditor an Affidavit of Candidacy, as well as a valid nomination petition containing a minimum of 10 signatures of eligible electors who are residents of Leon, by 5:00 p.m. Friday, May 31.  Absentee voting will open as soon as the ballots have been received from the vendor.

The individual elected will serve for the remaining balance of the unexpired term (December 31, 2019).
